"So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart."
The concept of love in a warrior is, to the uneducated and narrow minded, backwards. When you think warrior you think things like hard, risky, bad-to-the-bone, and solid. Love isn't a word that pops into most peoples minds when you ask them to describe a warrior.
Ask any real warrior what love is. Every "true" warrior has the ability to love. You can't be a real warrior and not understand love. Love is what binds us to the oath of sacrifice and what makes one so willing to lay down his life for another. Whether it is love for your team members, love for your family, or love for your homeland. Sacrifice is a direct response of love.
1 John 4:18 tells us: "There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love."
Personally, growing up I let fear get the better of me in a lot of ways. I remember Western Montana and a mountain that I had to climb. I remember the whole way up my legs were weak and shook. When I got to the top I couldn't even open my eyes for a long time because I feared what I would see. In my mind I saw a long way down. But when I opened my eyes I saw a new world and a scene I'll never forget. That was the day I conquered fear.
If you're worried about the long fall you'll never enjoy the phenomenal view.
If you fear death you'll never be the warrior that you were meant to be.
Perfect love drives out all fear.
Learn to love unconditionally and mercifully and you will be fearless.
